Description

Duncliffe Cottage

This very attractive cottage has been converted from the 18th Century cow standings. With its old pine doors and original beams, Duncliffe makes a very high quality holiday cottage. Located one and a half miles from Fontmell Magna.

Carefully designed with the less able in mind, the living accommodation consists of: a fascinating double height galleried lounge with lots of old beams and posts and a wood burning stove; a superbly equipped limed oak kitchen, microwave, oven and hob; 2 bedrooms (sleeps 4 plus 1 cot); bathroom with beamed ceiling, bath, WC and overbath shower; Colour TV; Full central heating and fitted carpets throughout. There is an enclosed, paved garden and ample parking.

Named after nearby Duncliffe Hill (owned by the Woodland Trust and offering superb walking), this cottage offers high quality family accommodation right in the centre of Hartgrove Farm.

Location

The farm is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty deep in the heart of the most beautiful countryside, one and a half miles from the pretty thatched village of Fontmell Magna.

Attractions

Hartgrove Farm is an organic, working farm, with lots of different farm animals and wildlife. Deer and buzzards are a common sight and previous visitors have enjoyed a stint of badger watching. The walking locally is outstanding, whether on National Trust chalk downs or on one of the many valley footpaths. Detailed maps and guides are available. The farm has its own tennis courts and games barn, with local facilities for swimming, horse riding, golf and fishing.

Fontmell Magna and other local villages have good pubs serving food.

There are several fine stately homes and gardens within easy reach, including Stourhead (National Trust), Kingston Lacey (NT) and Chettle. The beautiful sandy beaches at Studland are about 45 minutes away. Poole Quay, with its regular crossings to Brownsea Island, is even closer.

The whole area is a walker's paradise with beautiful walks on the magnificent National Trust Downs, Hambledon Hill, Duncliffe Hill or the patchwork of valley footpaths including the lovely Stour Valley Way.
